Porcelain laminated veneers or simply “veneers” are custom made, ultra thin porcelain shells which are placed in front of the teeth to enhance their appearance and also repair the damages which helps for smile design. These can mask discolorations, brighten teeth and are a much conservative approach to changing tooth color, shape or size. They are great for correcting uneven or crooked teeth, closing spaces between teeth, restoring broken or chipped teeth.Imagine a whiter, brilliant smile! Porcelain veneers are conservative cosmetic dentistry that makes a dramatic difference in the appearance of your teeth. If you have chipped teeth, crooked teeth, gaps in teeth or dull or stained teeth, veneers may be the perfect solution for you.
Veneers are nothing but very thin pieces of porcelain that are cemented over your existing teeth in order to cover them up. If you choose to have veneers installed, you will need to visit our dental office only twice. When you have your initial visit, we will analyze your teeth, your personal goals for a better smile, and your face structure. Once we have that information, we will select the type of veneers which will best suit your needs.
The next step in the process is for us to remove a bit of the enamel from your teeth. We will give you a temporary set of veneers while you wait for the dental lab to craft your permanent ones. After your permanent veneers are crafted and delivered, you will need to visit our dental office again. We will then install your permanent veneers. After you complete that last visit, you will leave our office with a fancy new smile! If you properly care for them, your new veneers will last anywhere from ten to fifteen years.
Lumineers are similar to veneers, but require less preparation of the teeth. These contact lens-thin “smile shapers” are bonded to the front surface of your teeth painlessly giving you a beautiful, bright and straight smile. There are no shots and no drilling involved!
Bonding is a tooth-colored material applied and adhered to the surface of the tooth without reducing the structure of the tooth in most cases. Then, we sculpt the material to create a natural-looking tooth.
Bonding corrects chipped and broken teeth, discolored teeth and in some cases can correct gaps. It is less expensive than veneers but doesnt last as long and can stain. A benefit of bonding is that generally, the natural structure of the tooth can be maintained.
Crown (sometimes called caps) are nothing but permanent caps molded like a real tooth. They are custom crafted and then cemented directly onto your prepared tooth. They are crafted from a variety of materials: metal, ceramic, resin, porcelain or even metal-free ceramics. Depending on where in your mouth you need the crown, we will recommend an appropriate material.
In order to provide you with a crown, we have to grind down a portion of your tooth. After sufficient grinding, your tooth will look like a round peg, and we will permanently cement your new crown on top of the peg. Unless you had to choose a crown crafted entirely from metal, it will be an identical match to the rest of your teeth. Crowns should easily last between ten to fifteen years if cared for.
A dental crown may be required in various instances:-
- To protect a weak tooth from decay or fracture.
- To restore an already broken or worn down.
- To hold a dental bridge in place or to cover a dental implant.
- To cover misshapen teeth.
- To cover severely discolored teeth.
Sometimes gum disease, injury, decay or simply wear results in the loss of a teeth. A large gap in your smile can create significant problems for your dental health if it isnt corrected. Over time your bite pressure may shift to other parts of your mouth to compensate for an inability to chew efficiently in the area of the missing tooth. Neighboring teeth may begin to move about, moving into the gap and resulting in discomfort, pain and more problems down the road. Porcelain bridges “bridge the gap” in your smile. We create a lifelike, functional bridge to correct your smile, restore your bite and alleviate your discomfort.
Missing teeth can cause your smile to undergo significant changes. A bridge is used to fill in the gap created by a missing tooth or teeth. It is made of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap with a tooth-like restoration in between. Bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants and are typically made of metals, alloys or porcelain. Porcelain makes the restoration look like real teeth in shape and color.
You can erase years of wear and tear with porcelain crowns. Sometimes called “caps,” porcelain crowns are customized for you, covering broken, cracked or discolored teeth. Crowns are a durable, strong, long lasting method of enhancing both the look and functionality of your smile.
A beautiful smile shows about 8-10 upper teeth with almost no gum above the two front teeth. In certain situations too much of gum above the upper front teeth will shown while smiling. This bulk of tissue can be safely modified in position and shape so that more of your natural enamel and less of gums show when you smile.
Tooth shaping involves removal of small amount (generally 1-2 mm) of enamel of teeth. This procedure can shorten long teeth, round off pointed teeth and help create a pleasing smile that gently follows the contour of lower lip.
Instant Orthodontics is a series of procedures used to create an “orthodontically balanced smile” especially in cases where the patient is not interested in traditional orthodontic treatment. In most cases, advanced dental technologies and dental ceramics are used.
